Information is meant to be communicated. That's how it informs. The name implies transmission.

Information theory describes how information can be communicated over channels and in
		computer networks.

This group studies networking from the perspective of Information theory, applying methods
of signal processing and standardization that allow networks to conduct information exchange
within the limits of real-world bandwidth.
